Since it was founded, the Public Information Library planned for the continuous sociological observation of its audiences: three research officers – two sociologists and a library curator – make it possible to conduct these investigations. They also pilot research programmes, with a broader scope, destined for the French public reading network and for the book industry.
This section presents the works that have been carried out – applied studies on the Bpi audiences as well as research from its annual programmes.
This section makes it possible to communicate the themes of recent work and to announce research that is underway.
The Public Information Library conducts studies and surveys of its audiences in order to measure visitor trends and to observe practices in reading and information access.
The Research and Studies Service launches national research programmes every year, with the support of the Books and Reading Service of the Ministry of Culture.
